This is Democracy – Buhari’s react to Adeleke’s triumph
Senator Ademola Adeleke, a candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has received congratulations from President Muhammadu Buhari following the party’s victory in the gubernatorial election held on Saturday in Osun State.
In a statement released on Sunday, Chief Femi Adesina, the Special Advisor to the President on Media and Publicity, noted that the election had reinforced his belief that “the people of Osun have expressed their will through the ballot, and the will of the people must always matter and be respected in a democracy.”
The successful conduct of the election, according to President Buhari, was yet another indication of everyone’s dedication to furthering the integrity of the electoral system in the nation, including the electoral body, security agencies, political parties, the media, civil society, and the electorate.
He reassured Nigerians that “the commitment of this administration towards having credible elections remains unshaken.”
