Nigeria: Gunmen kidnap Catholic Priest in Sokoto
Just a few days after the burial of a Catholic priest who had been abducted, assassinated, and buried in Kaduna State, Tony Udemezue, a priest in the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, has apparently been abducted by unidentified gunmen in Sokoto State.
The priest was abducted early on Monday from his home in Tambuwal, the hometown of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in Sokoto State.
On Monday, Rev. Fr. Chris Omotosho, the Sokoto Diocese’s Director of Communications, confirmed the incident.
Fr. Omotosho said, “One of my parishioners in Tambuwal, Sokoto State – *Tony Udemezue* has just been kidnapped in his own house (home town of the executive governor of the State – Aminu Tambuwal).
“No police has responded in the last 1 hour (since 2am) despite they were called by him before he was taken away.
