Edwin Clark: The Tinubu/Shettima ticket may indicate that Nigeria will become an Islamic state.
According to Edwin Clark, a former Federal Commissioner for Information, says the nomination of Senator Kashim Shettima as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s running mate in a nation with many ethnic and religious groups poses a threat to Nigeria’s unity.
The convener of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) stated in a statement on Monday that the APC presidential candidate’s choice might indicate the confirmation and realization of such rumors about the Islamization of Nigeria as a nation.
According to Alhaji Tinubu’s justifications for picking Kashim Shettima as his running mate, is the APC presidential candidate telling Nigerians that there aren’t any Christians from the north who are “competent, capable, and reliable” in the party?
“There are rumors that there is an effort to Islamize the nation. Are all these indications that these rumors have been verified and come true?
The wise man bemoaned the fact that Tinubu’s choice will exacerbate the country’s already-sharp split.
“I feel threatened for Nigeria,” the message said in part.
In accordance with the inclusivity clauses in the Constitution, the President and Vice President have always been followers of the two main religions to achieve balance.
Clark continued, “Tinubu’s selection of Shettima is neither inclusive nor beneficial for a secular state like Nigeria.”
“The nation is currently divided sharply, even along religious lines, and all patriots are looking for solutions to restore harmony.
Therefore, by choosing Shettima, a fellow Muslim, as his running partner, Tinubu will make the situation in the nation much worse. He ought to be aware that a good leader must be patriotic, according to the statement.
