According to Namibia’s president, Africa has the potential to become a major energy player.
On Tuesday, Namibian President Hage Geingob stated that Africa has the potential to become a major player in the global energy market.
Speaking at the opening of the African Renewable Energy Initiative’s 2nd Renewable Energy Forum, Geingob stated that this can be accomplished by doing the right things at the right time.
“Yes, with the right collaborations and partnerships, the time has come to ensure that no one is left behind in our energy for all ambition.” “Let us therefore join hands, pull together, and work together to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy,” Geingob said.
He believes that policy convergence and regulatory reforms in the African energy governance architecture are critical to realizing the potential of renewable technologies in green hydrogen, wind projects, solar power, and other low-carbon generation capacities.
“In order to spur development in a way that is sustainable for people and our planet, we must ensure the provision of clean energy from renewable energy sources to the majority of households and businesses,” he added.
